About the Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is excited to recruit a physician-fellow for the Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health.  

The Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health aims to train physicians to provide high-quality healthcare for LGBTQ+ and gender-expansive individuals through clinical excellence and scholarship.

The clinical focus of the fellowship will be community primary-care based, LGBTQ+ care, with a scholarly focus on designing medical education curricula and conducting community-based participatory research. 

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree

  • Applicants must have completed residency in Family Medicine, Med-Peds, or Internal Medicine 

  • Applicants are encouraged to apply while completing their final year of residency

  • Applicants must be planning a primary care career in academic and clinical medicine

  • Applicants must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent US resident with a resident alien permit or green card.  The fellowship is not able to sponsor J-1 or other visas

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Fellows will be employed by the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and University of Cincinnati Physicians. Salary is paid at PGY-4 level unless the fellow has advanced standing due to their previous graduate medical education. Benefits and CME are included.    

  • Fellows will receive the academic faculty title of Instructor, Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UC College of Medicine.

The educational strategy for the fellowship includes four components: Clinical Expertise, Research, Education, and Patient Advocacy. This model aims to develop comprehensive skills in healthcare provision that can be adapted by other institutions.
