About the Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health

About The Fellowship

The Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine trains physicians to provide expert, patient-centered care that meets the unique health needs of LGBTQ+ communities. This full-time, one-year program blends advanced clinical training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership development. Fellows develop clinical expertise while contributing to scholarship, medical education, and systems-based initiatives that enhance healthcare access and quality. Our fellowship is part of the AMA Foundation LGBTQ+ Health Program.  

Mission Statement 

The Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ+ Health is committed to advancing high-quality, accessible healthcare by training physicians to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care for LGBTQ+ populations. Through immersive clinical experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration, and systems-informed leadership development, the fellowship prepares physicians to improve health outcomes and expand access to care.  

Fellow Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree. 

  • Applicants must obtain an unrestricted medical license to practice in Ohio by the start of the fellowship. 

  • Applicants must have completed residency training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Medicine-Pediatrics, and be board-eligible or board-certified. 

  • Applicants should be pursuing a career in primary care clinical practice. 

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. The fellowship is not able to sponsor J-1 or other visa types. 

Salary and Benefits: 

  • This is a non-ACGME program. Fellows will be employed by the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine and University of Cincinnati Physicians.  

  • Salary is paid at PGY-4 level unless the fellow has advanced standing due to their previous graduate medical education. Benefits and CME are included.     

  • Fellows will receive the academic faculty title of Instructor, Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UC College of Medicine.
